National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday October 28, 2023. The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) has been conducting this initiative since 2010 to help provide a safe way for people to return unused or expired medications, including opioids. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day events aim to help prevent misuse and diversion and provide safe disposal of medications. To date, the initiative has resulted in 17,300,454 pounds (8,650 tons) being collected, and the April 2023 event collected a nationwide weight of 663,725 pounds (332 tons) These are currently being hosted biannually in April and October.
